Australia’s maritime tradition is behind the international success of the Melbourne-based building products company Ronstan. Started in 1953 by Ron Allat and
Stan Lenepveu, the business has undergone several changes
in ownership and a significant expansion in its markets and
focus over the years.
Having been a leading supplier of stainless steel boat
fittings for many years, in 1990 Ronstan branched into the
building industry with a move into stainless steel rigging
components for the architectural and construction sectors.
These days Ronstan is renowned throughout the world for
its innovative solutions to tensile architecture and catenary
lighting rigs as well as its continuing involvement in the
supply and manufacture of marine products.
Construction success story
With offices in six countries and an export relationship with
many more the company won Australian Marine Exporter of
the Year in 2003. Among its many contributions to building
projects are a number of high-profile Australian icons,
including Federation Square in Melbourne, the Manly Corso
in Sydney, the Homebush Olympic Stadium, Whitten Oval in
Footscray, The National Gallery of Victoria, and Sydney’s Star
City Casino and Darling Harbour.
