environmental sense,” says Garth Weston, Market Manager Commercial and Industrial for BlueScope Steel. “The choice of roofing material is critical to help achieve this. Colorbon Coolmax steel meets these objectives while still delivering quality, durability and warranty support.” By creating cooler, more reflective roofs, particularly in high density areas uch as business parks and industrial estates, the intensity of urban “heat islands” can be reduced. BlueScope Steel has developed a new
roofing product that can help to reduce
the energy costs of cooling a building by
up to 7. 5 per cent.
The saving is achieved by the new
product – Colorbond Coolmax steel, in
the colour Whitehaven – compared to
Colorbond steel in the colour Surfmist
which is among industry leaders in solar
reflectance. Recent studies show that
a Coolmax roof can lower the internal
temperature of a non-airconditioned
building by between 0.5 to 2°C. When
compared to Zincalume steel, it can
lower the internal temperature between
2°C and 4°C .
The new material has been designed
to maintain all the qualities of Colorbond
steel including its excellent resistance to
dirt retention and maintenance of solar
reflectance over time.

Power where and
when you want it
HPM Legrand, a leading Australian
supplier to the electrical industry,
has introduced Legrand Soluflex,
an innovative new system that’s a
simple way to improve and simplify
installations for electricians, builders
and contractors.
Soluflex is a flexible, modular cable
management system that is suitable for
both new and refurbishment projects. It
creates well-organised, multifunctional
rooms where users will always have
enough connection points.
Cables can be installed and run
anywhere underneath the flooring.
Connection points can be chosen at any
stage in the design process, even after
an installation is complete.
To install Soluflex, steel tiles are
simply clicked into supports on the
ground – no glue or fixings are required.
Once the floor has been laid, cabling and
connections can be placed between the
supports by removing the appropriate
tiles. Soluflex tiles can be covered with
carpet, rubber, stone, or timber flooring.
