Maximising thermal performance and efficiency
When attempting to improve thermal efficiencies of a
commercial roof, a common problem that occurs is thermal
bridging. This occurs when materials that are poor insulators
come in contact, allowing heat to flow through the path
created. When thermal bridging occurs, any insulation
sheeting or blanket used will have very little effect.
To eliminate this problem, an additional insulating
component should be used to provide a thermal break.
Foamex PurlinK polystyrene spacers are mounted over
the insulation blanket and fastened to the purlins when the
roof is being installed. The spacers provide a thermal break
for the commercial insulation, allowing sufficient space for
the insulation blanket to return to a satisfactory thickness,
maximising the effect of the insulation. The use of Foamex
PurlinK spacers ensures superior resistance to heat at
purlins, eliminating thermal bridging, increasing the
overall R Value and delivering up to 10 times the thermal
performance of standard metal spacer systems.
