DRYER WINS PRODUCT AWARD
Celebrating their 20th anniversary, DesignEX has paid tribute to
20 years of design excellence, with an impressive design tunnel
featuring key icons during this time. Included in this exhibition
is the Dyson DC01, which revolutionised the humble vacuum
cleaner forever.
It is hoped that Dyson’s first commercial design, the Airblade
hand dryer, launched into the public eye at this year’s DesignEX,
is set to create the same revolution in hand drying. The product is
off to a good start, picking up a coveted Product of the Year Award
in the bathroom category.
The awards are judged for their overall excellence in design,
encompassing a complete design philosophy of manufacturer,
innovation, ergonomics, functionality, durability, safety and
environmental sensitivity.
“All of these criteria are at the heart of the Dyson design
process,’ says Ross Cameron, Managing Director, Dyson SEA.
‘It’s the complete design philosophy that we pass onto our own
design team, and that we encourage through the education
initiatives we run globally.’
The Dyson Airblade hand dryer wipes hands dry with a high-velocity sheet of air in just 10 seconds. It’s fast. It includes a
HEPA filter to remove 99.9 per cent of bacteria from the air before
blowing it back onto hands. It’s hygienic. It uses up to 75 per cent
less energy than warm air hand dryers. It’s energy efficient.
